Rovno is an oblast center. The first writing mentioning in 1282, connected with the battle between Lithuanian and Polish armies. In XV century gained the Right of Magdeburg. In 1479, the wooden castle was built (was not preserved). During XVI-XVII centuries belonged to Princes Ostrozhskiye, than Zamoiskiye, Konetspolskiye, Valevskiye and since 1723 to Liubomirskiye. They restored the castle made of it the luxurious palace (dismantled in XX century). During the Second World War Rovno was the capital of Ukraine occupied by German fascists.
