The town is not big with the population of only 33 thousand people, but it is well known as an oldest balneal recreation. By it climate and natural conditions Saki resembles Yevpatoria. The climate here is sea and steppe, very dry, reasonably mild with mild winter. The average annual temperature of the air is +11,2⁰. The average temperature of summer is+22⁰, of winter is about 0. Duration of sun shining during the year makes 2500 hours (in Yalta 2223). Therapeutic mud of Saki Lake people used even in medieval. There were legends about it. One of them told about chumak came from Ukraine to take salt extracted there. His ox stuck in the mud of swamp and chumak spent the whole night in this mud trying to take the heavy cart off. When he came home he suddenly felt that the old pain in his legs, which from he suffered for many years, disappeared and he became absolutely healthy. In 1827, the first mud hospital in Russia was founded here and ten years later the department of Simferopol military hospital was opened here.

The sight of the town and its pride is Kourortnyi park with 80 types of trees and bushes. The monuments to Lesia Ukrainka and N.V. Gogol remaind that they undergone medical treatment in Saki. At 5^th km one can see the monument to marines – the hero of Yevpatoria marine paratroopers.

The most famous operating deposit of curative mud in Crimea is Saki, which is situated in the recreation area of the same name at the Western coast of Crimea. Silt sulphide mineral mud of Saki deposit is the most famous in the practice of mud treatment. Classical school of mud therapy originates from here and it has been existed for centuries. High curative quality of Saki mud is defined by their chemical composition and content of biologically active components. The deposit is huge and makes4,5 mln. m³. It will allow without any damage to operate reservoir for many hundreds of years.

Saki Lake deposit is also of scientific interest for thy specialists of recreation hydrogeology as the only mineral mud reservoir of Crimea and Ukraine, where since 1926, the constant monitoring of natural curative resources quality is operating.

Brine of Saki Saly Lake is also very important curative factor. The salinity here reaches 200 g/l and possesses the same curative properties as mud.

There are 7 whole year sanatoriums with the capacity of more than 3.500 people with own curative facilities and specific profile; 4 summer pensions and campings with the capacity of about 3000 places; 3 children summer recreation centers for 1000 children; fur trees park with the area of 30 hectares, which was founded 100 tear ago; well-room with mineral water. There is also specialized Burdenko sanatorium is Saki for spinal patients.
