Museum of folk architecture and life is the architecture and landscape complex in the open air of all historic and ethnographic regions of Ukraine. Museum was founded in Pirogovo village at the boundary of Kyiv in 1969. Almost 300 exhibits allocated at the area of 150 hectares. Museum received the first visitors in 1976.

Traditional fairs and holidays hold at the territory of museum according to folk traditions. It territory divided into open zones according to historic regions of the country. You can see here houses, wooden churches, mills and different facilities. Original works of architecture are the exhibits of museum. They were taken here from different regions of Ukraine (there are more than 3200).
Exhibits tell about architecture of Ukrainian villages, life of farmers and folk art of Ukrainians. Hill with wind mills is the symbol of agriculture Ukraine. There is big collection of folk clothes, furniture, wooden and clay table ware, one of the best collections of folk musical instruments. Exhibits make visitors feel like in a time machine.
This is the excellent place for the week end. After the walk around museum you can lay on a grass, to ride the horse, have lunch at the restaurant with Ukrainian borshch, salo or BBQ and remember all these in the open air and with live Ukrainian music.
