Ukraine is the land of primordial beauty not spoiled by human civilization. This is the source of life for romantic Slavonic soul. This is the land which entertains Kossaks bravery in times of their exciting heroic deeds.
The nature of Ukraine is various and picturesque. Total area of re-creative landscapes is 9,4 mln. hectares. Resources of forests make 14 per cents of the country’s territory. Fauna of the Ukrainian forests is very versatile. Having walk in the forest one can meet deer, roes, elks, wild boars, pheasants and even aurochs. More



Geography: Ukraine is a state situated in the Eastern Europe. It boarders Belarus to the North; Russian Federation to the North and East; Poland, Slovakia to the West and Hungary, Romania and Moldova to the South-West. To the South Ukraine is washed by Black and Azov seas. Territory of Ukraine is 603,7 thousand sq. km. The biggest distance from West to East is 1300 km, from North to South – 900 km. Total length of the state boarder of Ukraine makes 7698 km. The length of marine part of the state boarder makes 1758 km (Black Sea – 1533 km and Azov Sea – 225 km). By administrative and territorial content the territory of Ukraine consists of 24 oblasts and Autonomous Republic of Crimea. More

Climate: Ukraine is allocated mainly in moderate thermal zone. As a whole its climate is moderate continental. Only at the Southern Beach of Crimea the climate is sub-tropical of Mediterranean type. In Zakarpattya climate is also mild with warm winter with little snow in winter and rainy summer. An average winter temperature is from -80C to -120C (from +17.60F to +30F). In Southern oblasts winter temperature is about 00C (+320F). An average summer temperature: from +180C to +250C (from +64.40F to +770F) but during daytime it can reach +350C (+950F).


Population: Total quantity of population is 48 mln. people. In big cities: Kyiv – 2.6 mln., Kharkov – 1.6 mln., Dnepropetrovsk – 1.2 mln., Donetsk – 1.1. mln., Odessa – 1.1 mln. of inhabitants. An average density of population is 90 people per square kilometer. Ethnic content is the following: 80% are Ukrainians, the rest are Russian, Belorussian, Jews, Crimea Tatars, Moldavian, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian and representatives of other minor nationalities. Population of cities makes over 68%.

Language: Ukrainian (official language), Russian (native language of almost half of population), there are some groups speaking Crimean-Tatar, Romanian, Polish, Hungarian and other languages.

Religion: Believers belong to several religions. Orthodox and Greek Catholic (Ukrainian Catholic of Byzantine Rite) are the biggest.

Currency: Hryvna is a national currency. One Hryvna makes 100 copecks. Banknotes of 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2, 1 Hryvnas are use. Coins of 50, 25, 10, 5, 2, 1 copecks are used.

Currency exchange: One can exchange currency at the airport, banks, currency exchange counters. Roubles and US Dollars could be received free as a payment at the markets and private shops. In South-Western and in Western Ukraine the exchange of Roubles is rather difficult and could be made only in banks.
